According to Anvisa, the evaluation period is 30 days. Clinical data presented by the company will be analyzed, which must prove the benefit of the additional dose for this specific audience.

Currently, the booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine is provided on the package insert for people over 18 years of age. On the 21st, Anvisa received a request from Pfizer to include the booster dose in the vaccine package insert for children aged 5 to 11 years.

Recommendation from the Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health recommends the booster dose against Covid-19 for adolescents, between 12 and 17 years old.

The booster dose should be given four months after the second dose, preferably with the Pfizer vaccine, regardless of the dose given previously. If the vaccine is unavailable, Coronavac can be used.

The recommendation also applies to pregnant and postpartum adolescents. In the case of immunocompromised adolescents, only the Pfizer vaccine should be used.
