Apple Inc. announced that all its services, including the App Store, Apple Arcade, Music and Maps, have returned to normal operation after the outage occurred earlier today, according to Reuters.
Thousands of users did not have access to these services.
Apple’s service status page showed 11 interruptions to different services, noting that the company has begun to look into the matter and some services may be delayed or unavailable.
According to Downdetector.com, more than 4,000 users reported problems using Apple Music, while nearly 4,000 reported problems with iCloud. Problems were also reported with the “find my iPhone” service, Apple store, maps and support.
According to Bloomberg News, problems were also found on the company’s internal websites. According to the report, Apple informed its staff that the interruption was caused by the domain name system (DNS) that corresponds to the web page addresses with the correct server.
In a number of similar incidents last year, DNS issues caused widespread disruptions to social networking platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, and “dropped” airline websites for banks for hours.
