Apple releases macOS Monterey: Safari redesign, AirPlay on Mac, and iPad integration

Today, October 25, the stable release of the new version of the macOS 12 Monterey operating system took place. This time, Apple has named the update in honor of the beautiful city of Monterey on the central California coast, famous for its rolling hills. There are not many innovations in macOS Monterey, but they include both significant ecosystem functions and various useful conveniences. The update is just under 12 GB in size.

Which Macs support macOS Monterey

macOS Monterey is showing a rapid decline in support for older Intel-based Macs. In the case of the 12-inch MacBook, the timeline has shifted by a year to no earlier than 2016. However, much more noticeable changes in terms of compatibility apply to the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. The fact is that only users of models released in early 2015 or later can install macOS Monterey. That is, we are talking about two years of difference at once (macOS Big Sur is compatible with MacBook Pro and MacBook Air from 2013).
