Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo argued that future iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max smartphones may be equipped with last year’s Apple A15 Bionic single-chip system. Now this information is confirmed along with other interesting details.
Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman agrees and adds that the Cupertino giant will split the chipsets of its iPhone line for the first time since the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The former used the Apple A7 single-chip system, while the latter used the older Apple A6 platform. According to iDrop News, the iPhone 14 series will follow the same path.
This year, Apple will be reusing the A15 Bionic chipset that debuted in the iPhone 13 series for the base iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max. However, to avoid a possible backlash, the company will simply rename the platform to Apple A16 Bionic. On the other hand, the new platform will be called Apple A16 Pro and will be used in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Notably, this move allowed Apple to cut costs. Since the mini model has been discontinued, the line will now start at $800, while the Max version will cost $100 more. The company will still be able to maintain the usual $200 price difference between Pro and base smartphones.
The presentation of the iPhone 14 may take place in September this year.
