AstraZeneca Cocktail vs Covid-19 is 83% effective after six months

AstraZeneca reported on Thursday (18) that its cocktail of antibodies against Covid-19 showed 83% effectiveness after six months, in studies conducted by the company.

The injectable therapy, called AZD7442 or Evusheld, had already shown 77% protection against symptomatic cases of the disease after three months, in an earlier release from the Provent study in August.

The company also said that a separate survey of patients with mild to moderate Covid-19 showed that a higher dose of AZD7442 reduced the risk of worsening symptoms by 88% when given within three days of the onset of symptoms.

The most recent results from long-term follow-ups demonstrate the potential of AstraZeneca, as well as Pfizer, to be a provider of vaccines and treatments against Covid-19.

“These new data add to growing evidence supporting the potential of AZD7442 to make a significant difference in the prevention and treatment of Covid-19,” said Executive Vice President Mene Pangalos in a statement.
