Iran told the United Nations (UN) that its drone attack on Israel is a response to the country's attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus and that “the matter can be considered concluded.”
Iran's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York stated that Saturday's action was a response to “Israeli aggression against our diplomatic facilities in Damascus”.
“However, if the Israeli regime makes another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe. It is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime, from which the United States must stay away!” said the Permanent Mission of Iran.
Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declared that the “malicious Zionist regime” will be punished.
Suspected Israeli warplanes bombed Iran's consulate in Damascus, Syria, on April 1, in an attack that Iran said killed seven military advisers.
In addition to Israel, Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, blamed the attack on the United States for the support given to the country.
The attack
Iran's Revolutionary Guard said today it has launched dozens of drones and missiles against specific targets in Israel.
The information was initially reported by the Israel Defense Forces spokesman, Daniel Hagari.
According to Hagari, they were monitoring the threat in their airspace and added that the attack would take a few hours to reach Israel.
“If we discover specific threats with a shorter arrival time, we will update you immediately,” he said. “We ask that you remain vigilant and follow the instructions of the Home Front Command. We understand these threats and have dealt with them in the past.”
