THE European Union was not informed about AUKUS initiative, of the new alliance between Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States, according to the statement made today (16/9) from Brussels by the representative of the Commission in charge of foreign policy, Peter Stano.
“The EU has not been informed of this initiative. “We are in contact with our three partners to learn more,” said Peter Stano, noting that the issue would be discussed between EU member states to assess the impact of the agreement.
It is recalled that the United States, which seeks to strengthen its alliances against China at all levels, announced yesterday, Wednesday, with Australia and the United Kingdom a broad security partnership that mainly involves the delivery of nuclear submarines to Canberra.
