The entry of that particular word was the one most consulted by usersthe editorial team of the digital edition of the dictionary said in a post, judging that the event reflects Americans’ concerns about artificial intelligence, identity, or social networking sites.

As pointed out in the text, celebrities with huge exposure, such as singer Taylor Swift, insisted this year on the importance of being authentic.
Meanwhile, tycoon Elon Musk, who is also often in the media, called on leaders and decision-makers to express themselves on social networking sites “in an authentic way.”
The word entry outnumbered searches for the word “deepfake,” which describes the persuasive falsification of audio or video content.
