AWS issues ‘drop’ Amazon applications, affecting Disney +, Netflix, Robinhood and Coinbase

The cloud computing platform Amazon Web Services (AWS) is facing problems on Tuesday, as a result of which several services of the parent company Amazon.com Inc. “fell”. but also several sites that use AWS.

A notice on the Amazon Web Services control website states that the company is experiencing problems with certain application programming interfaces (APIs) and the AWS management console. The company also adds that the problems affect the US-East-1 area in the US, so not all users are likely to experience downtime.

“We’re having API and console issues in the US-EAST-1 area,” AWS said in a statement, adding that it had identified the cause and was working to resolve the issue.

According to the Downdetector website, more than 24,000 people reported having problems with Amazon.

The problem, however, affects a much larger number of users, according to Reuters.

After all, other services of the technology giant, such as the Ring security camera service, the application of electronic banking via Chime mobile and the application of robotic vacuum cleaners iRobot, face problems, as they report on their social media pages.

Ring said it is aware of the problem and is already working to resolve it. “A major shutdown of Amazon Web Services (AWS) is currently affecting the iRobot Home application,” iRobot said on its website.

In addition to Amazon applications, however, AWS issues have disrupted other websites and services, such as Disney + and Netflix subscription streaming services, as well as the Slack business messaging app, according to CNBC.

Robinhood online trading platforms have also reported problems with their operation, as has Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States.

Even retailers using the Amazon platform reported that they were unable to access Seller Central, an in-house website they use to manage the orders they receive from their customers.

AWS representatives did not immediately respond to a request from CNBC for comment.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time such problems have been observed. In June, sites such as Reddit, Amazon, CNN, PayPal, Spotify, Al Jazeera Media Network and the New York Times were hit by an extended outage related to content delivery provider Fastly Inc, AWS’s smaller rival. .

Also in July, Amazon experienced a shutdown of its online store service that lasted nearly two hours and affected more than 38,000 users.

Users have experienced 27 downtime in the last 12 months on Amazon, according to ToolTester.
