French poll: Valerie Pecres to beat Macron in second round of presidential elections

Republican Conservative candidate Valerie Pekres jumped to 20% in the run-up to the April presidential election and is set to win outgoing President Emanuel Macron in a second round, according to a poll. Elabe Institute on behalf of BFMTV / L’Express.

The poll, conducted after Pekres’ victory Saturday in her party’s primary and the two rallies of the other two presidential contenders, the far-right Eric Zemour and the leader of the Rebellious France (radical left), Me on Sunday.

Valerie Pekres took advantage of the “qualifying effect” and gained 11 points compared to the previous poll of the same institute, on November 23/24.

Emanuel Macron’s share fell two points to 23%. If the two go to the second round, Pekres seems to prevail, with 52% against 48% for Macron.

In the first round, they are both ahead by Marin Lepen of the National Alarm (15%, drop of 5 points) and Zemour (14%, rise of 1 point).

The left-wing candidates are all below 10%.

The intention to vote does not constitute a prediction of the outcome of the election. It gives only an indication of the correlation of forces and the dynamics of the candidates on the day of the poll. That of Elabe took place on December 6/7, online, in a sample of 1,474 persons from metropolitan France, of which 1,354 are registered to vote.

The margin of statistical error is 1.2-3.1%.
