One of the biggest names in Brazilian popular music, Gal Costa died this Wednesday (9), at the age of 77, in São Paulo. With a career spanning 58 years, the artist had a career marked by her unmistakable voice and several changes over the years.
When the artist turned 70, in 2015, the Ecad (Central Office for Collection and Distribution) carried out a survey on the artistâs career and identified that the song âBabyâ, at the time, was the singerâs most recorded. The song, from 1969, was written by his friend Caetano Veloso.
The song also appears at the top of the artist’s songs on the streaming platform Spotify. The version that appears at the top of the list is one that the artist recorded with Rubel at a concert.
In the same list of Ecad appeared âUm dia de Domingoâ, by Michael Sullivan, Miguel and Paulo Massadas, which she recorded with another powerful voice of MPB, Tim Maia, in 1985.
In the same study by Ecad it still appears that âUm dia de Domingoâ, âRain of silverâ, by Ronaldo Bastos, recorded in 1984, and âLuckâ, a partnership between Celso Fonseca and Ronaldo Bastos, recorded by the artist in 1989.

According to Ecad, Gal has 786 phonograms registered in the institution’s database.
