Bad Bunny’s complicated love life: a lawsuit, the rather public quarantine and model Kendall Jenner

Shakira and Taylor Swift are not the only singers to talk about their lives in the lyrics of their songs: also Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, known worldwide as Bad bunny, reveals some traits of his personality in the form of hits. Or at least that’s what we perceive when we listen to verses like those that make up the song Titi asked me: «yo quisiera enamorarme pero no puedo» («I would like to fall in love but I can’t») or «hoy tengo a una, mañana otra pero no hay boda» («today I have one, tomorrow another but no wedding»).

Recently, after one of his concerts, the three Grammy Award winner was spotted with Kendall Jennerthe supermodel and entrepreneur sister of Kim Kardashianin a rather affectionate attitude.

The artist’s fans reacted in two ways to the news of the alleged relationship: either by mounting videos of the Puerto Rican that simulated an appearance in the reality of the most famous sisters on the Internet, or with criticism (especially from his Latino audience) for dating a white, American woman. For now, however, neither the model nor the singer-songwriter have confirmed or denied the relationship.

The other news involving the author of Un verano sin ti these days it comes from one of his former partners, Carliz De La Cruz, who is suing the singer for 40 million dollars in royalties. The young lawyer, who was in a relationship with Bad Bunny from 2011 (when they both worked in a supermarket) to 2016, sued him earlier this month accusing him of using a recording of her voice without authorization in several songs.

Several media, including Europa FM and Divinity, claim that the two were even officially engaged, but that the relationship ended when the Rimas Music record label signed Bad Bunny while De La Cruz was admitted to the university’s law faculty of Puerto Rico.

According to court papers, in 2015 De La Cruz recorded an audio with the phrase “Bad Bunny, baby” which the artist used on at least two occasions: at the beginning of the song Pa ti’ and, a few years later, in Dosmil 16, one of the songs from the last album. Apparently, the artist team actually sent Carliz the contracts asking for her consent to release the album, but she only did so the day before her release and still released it before receiving a answer.

«Since then, thousands of people talk about the “Bad Bunny Baby” commenting directly on Carliz’s social networks as well as every time she goes to any public place. This has caused (and continues to cause) De La Cruz to feel worried, distressed, intimidated, oppressed and anxious,” she reads in the motion.

On the other hand, another slice of his audience (the one that has followed the artist since his debut) wonders “where is Gabriela”. The reference is to Gabriela Berlingeri, with whom the singer had his last relationship in the light of the sun. On January 24, Berlingeri, model and influencer, removed all traces of Bad Bunny from her Instagram profile. Together with her, the Puerto Rican had given great moments to her followers on social networks during the quarantine due to the coronavirus, broadcasting live videos and even composing a song, entitled At homeand then sing it as a duet.
