With a percentage of 98.4%, the general meeting of the Cooperative Bank of Chania, approved today the agreement from 13/4/2022 with the Pancretan Bank, in the context of the planned merger of the two credit institutions for the creation of a new bank named “Candia Bank “.
Speaking to reporters, the president of the Cooperative Bank of Chania, Michalis Marakakis, after the completion of the process of merging the two banks, the 5th pole is created, ie the fifth largest bank, with assets that in two years will exceed 5 billion euros. “I consider it a successful process so far and I am happy that it will be completed very soon,” he said.
When the merger procedures are completed, the central bank will be headquartered in Athens and two regional administrations will be created in Heraklion and Chania at the same time.
According to Mr. Marakakis, the goal of the new bank will be to expand its branch network throughout Greece.
