Banker arrested for stealing R$ 1 million in branch is released in Piauí

The bank clerk arrested on Tuesday (31), accused of stealing more than 1 million reais from the Banco do Brasil branch where he worked, in Teresina, Piauí, was released after undergoing a custody hearing this Wednesday (1st). .

Justice understood that preventive detention was not necessary, since there was no flagrante delicto of robbery. The delegate responsible for the case clarified that, even at liberty, the man will continue to be investigated.

The coordinator of the Group for the Repression of Organized Crime (Greco), Charles Pessoa, told the CNN that bank representatives went to the police and reported that they noticed the lack of the amount.

Initially, the institution suspected that the employee was the victim of a crime already known to the authorities, in which the family of a bank employee is taken hostage and the professional is threatened to steal money from the bank and take it to criminals.

During the investigation, the police discovered that the bank clerk and his family were not victims of any crime, so he was treated as a suspect. An amount of money in kind was located at the residence of the bank employee, who was fleeing to Ceará.

The Ceará police were called and intercepted the suspect, who was driving a car registered in his own name. In the vehicle, agents found another amount of money and the key to the bank branch safe.
