The Central Bank (BC) projection for 2022 inflation increased from 4.7% to 7.1%. If this value is confirmed, it will be the second consecutive year that the Broad Consumer Price Index (IPCA) is above the inflation target ceiling.
The information is from the Quarterly Inflation Report, released this Thursday (24). In a more optimistic scenario, and considered more likely by the BC, the projection drops to 6.3%. This forecast already has a downward trajectory for the oil price in 2022.
Even so, the value is higher than the target ceiling of 5%, with a margin of 1.5 percentage points.
“In terms of estimated probabilities of inflation exceeding the limits of the tolerance interval, the increase in the probability of inflation being above the upper limit in 2022 stands out, which rose from around 41% in the previous Report to around 88 % to 97%,” the document says.
