The dream of becoming an actress Beatrice Barichella first caressed him on the set of We Are Who We Are, Luca Guadagnino’s series broadcast on Sky Atlantic last fall. “Before, I wanted to be an interior designer” Beatrice explains on the phone from her home in Rome, the city where she moved in October to study acting and aspire to important roles and projects. Originally from Padua, lulled by the scent of chestnut trees and holm oaks of the Euganean Hills, Beatrice participates in the auditions of the series that changed her life to skip the math class: “When we heard that there were auditions for extras at my school, my classmates and I jumped right in, but it was a game. Within two months, however, I was contacted for a minor role: I had won the role of Sole, but then Luca told me that, if I wanted that of Valentina, it was mine. The day after I was on the set ». Twenty years old, sunny and with a great desire to do, Beatrice has all the credentials to break into the world of cinema, maintaining the humility that has always accompanied her in her life.

How did she feel when she saw herself again?

“At first I struggled because I felt like I was seeing another person: the body was mine, but I still had to realize I was lending a face to a character. Only now do I appreciate what I have managed to do ».

How did you find yourself working with Luca Guadagnino?

“It was a fantastic experience. Being totally foreign to the sector and having never studied, being guided by a teacher like Luca was unforgettable. I will always be grateful to him for this opportunity, before I was just a TV series fan ».

Which?

“With Game of Thrones, Euphoria it is my favorite by far ».

Euphoria, as well as We Are Who We Are, describes a very fluid, complicated adolescence. Is the real one so in your opinion?

“Yes, these two productions were the first to depict in the most realistic way possible what adolescence really is, in all its crudeness”.

How was his?

“Very lucky because of my relationship with my parents: if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be here. In the end, all this came about by pure chance of fate, since before I wanted to do something else ».

Do you believe in destiny, then?

“After what happened to me, yes. I really believe a phrase from a friend who says that if you give off positive energies, those will come back to you sooner or later. The first day on the set I realized that I wanted to do this in life: being able to enter a place where you leave yourself out to play someone else is one of the most fascinating things in this work ».

Do you consider yourself an actress now?

“Not yet, but I’m working on it: I have to learn a lot.”

Dream big: where would you like to go?

«I would love to work with Gabriele Muccino, who is one of my favorite directors. If I really wanted to push myself further, I think that if I ever worked with Meryl Streep I would probably risk hospitalization ».

Now that he is in Rome, he has begun to attend the endless series of auditions. How do you take the “no”?

“When they arrive, you have to be good at turning them into a mountain to climb. The “no” make you stronger, they tell you not to look back and not to be discouraged ».

How can you not be discouraged?

«When I put one thing in my head, it must be that, I’m very competitive: it will be because of the sport. I have always practiced rhythmic gymnastics at a competitive level, as if I had a bull inside that pushes to get out. Now I have given up, but I try to maintain the flexibility that that discipline gave me: today I do yoga and dance, I always try to find time to do the things that make me feel good “.

What makes her feel good?

“The thought of being surrounded by people who love me, finding happiness in the little things.”

What do you think is your greatest talent instead?

“Always be able to smile, even when things go wrong. Always find something positive in the ugliest things. I don’t see the glass full or empty, but always full ».
