The city of Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais, completed 150 days without rain this Sunday (15). Since April 18 of this year, there have been no records of rainfall.
According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), Belo Horizonte leads among capitals in the dry season.
Other cities, such as Brasília, Goiânia and Cuiabá, also appear in the ranking.
Brazil is facing one of its most severe periods of drought, with much of the country covered in smoke from fires.
Around 8pm on Sunday, the CNN checked the Air Quality Index (AQI), which showed that the concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in Belo Horizonte is 7.3 times higher than the recommended annual amount by the World Health Organization (WHO) for air quality.
Low humidity, worsened by the lack of rain in recent months, could cause an increase in cases of respiratory diseases in the capital of Minas Gerais.
