This July 28, actor Bernard Cribbins, a popular face on the British screen who played Wilfred Mott in the famous television series Doctor Who and lent his voice as a narrator for the children’s program The Wobbles (1973 to 1975), died at the age of 93.
This is reported by British media, citing Cribbins’ agent, who reported the death through a press release. However, the cause of death was not disclosed.
Bernard’s contribution to British entertainment is unquestionable. He was unique, typifying the best of his generation. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him.
Born on December 29, 1928, in Oldham, England, Bernard Cribbins’ career spanned seven decades, with memorable performances on the iconic series Doctor Who from the BBC. In 1966, Cribbins played the companion of Doctor Tom Campbell in the film Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 AD.
Later, he returned to star in the reboot from the famous television show, from 2007 to 2010, as Wilfred Mott, the grandfather of Donna Noble, played by Catherine Tate. Earlier this year, Cribbins shot scenes for the 60th anniversary special of Doctor Who.
Through his official Instagram account, the producer of the series, Russell T. Davies, remembered him as “a wonderful actor”:

Additionally, shortly after news of Cribbins’ death became public, the official Twitter account for Doctor Who released the following statement:
