Bethel Park has temporary flight restrictions following Trump assassination attempt

The US Federal Aviation Administration has implemented temporary flight restrictions over Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, due to “special safety reasons,” according to its website.

The order comes after an assassination attempt on Donald Trump this Saturday (13), during a rally in the region.

The restriction went into effect at 2:05 a.m. ET on Sunday (14) and will remain in effect until 5 a.m. ET, the agency said.

The FBI previously said the shooter lived in Bethel Park. Authorities are investigating the attack.

CNN has reached out to the Federal Aviation Administration for more information on what prompted the restrictions.

What happened

Former President Donald Trump was the victim of an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania, United States, this Saturday (13). After gunshots were heard at the scene, he was removed from the stage bleeding, with an injury to his ear.

According to his spokesman, Steven Cheung, the Republican is doing well.

The shooter, Thomas Crooks, was killed by the Secret Service.

According to Kevin Rojek, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburg field office, the attacker had no identification on his body, so agents had to “analyze his DNA and obtain biometric confirmation.”

Authorities also reported that at least one audience member died and two other attendees were seriously injured during the shooting.
