Biden apologized to Zelensky for delays in approving US aid

US President Joe Biden met today in Paris with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, apologized for congressional delays in approving the latest US aid package, and announced a new tranche of $225 million on the sidelines of events for 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy. The meeting was the first one-on-one meeting since Zelensky visited Washington in December, when both pressed Republicans to overcome their party’s opposition to more support for Ukraine. They will meet again next week at the G7 summit in Italy as wealthy Western nations discuss using Russian assets frozen after the invasion of Ukraine to provide $50 billion for Ukraine.
