US President Joe Biden made brief comments at a press conference on Sunday (14), following the attack on Trump at a rally in the state of Pennsylvania.
Biden denounced the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in remarks at the White House, saying there is no place for this type of violence in the country.
“I am sincerely grateful that he is well and recovering,” Biden said. The president added that he had a “short but good” conversation with Trump.
“There is no place in America for this kind of violence, or any violence for that matter. An attempted assassination is contrary to everything we stand for as a nation. Everything. It’s not who we are as a nation. It’s not America,” the Democrat said.
Biden added: “And we cannot allow that to happen. Unity is the most elusive goal of all, but nothing is as important as this right now: unity.”
Former President Donald Trump was attacked during a rally in Pennsylvania, United States, on Saturday (13). After gunshots were heard at the scene, he was removed from the stage bleeding, with a wound to his face. The shooter was killed at the scene.
