Bill Gates called investments in digital assets meaningless

The Microsoft co-founder announced that he only invests in assets that “give a return.” According to him, cryptocurrencies do not fall into this category.

During a recent sessions Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit, Bill Gates was asked if he invests in digital assets. The billionaire replied that there are no cryptocurrencies in his portfolio, since he likes to invest money only in those assets that justify their value. For example, in a company that produces any product. According to Gates, digital assets cannot be called such. However, the businessman prefers to take a neutral stance on bitcoin:

“The value of cryptocurrencies depends on whether the other person is willing to pay for them. But they do not benefit society, which cannot be said about investments in other assets.”

Gates recently advised people who do not have as much money as Elon Musk to be extremely careful when investing in bitcoin so as not to suffer serious financial losses.

However, contrary to Gates’ skepticism, many well-known entrepreneurs consider bitcoin to be a great investment vehicle. For example, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak called bitcoin a “unique mathematical formula” and compared the first cryptocurrency with gold. American investor Bill Miller is also optimistic about bitcoin, despite the recent fall in the crypto market. The investor believes that BTC could become “insurance against financial disaster”, and the value is strengthened by the fact that governments cannot control it.
