Amrita Srivastava, who worked at Binance Holdings from 2022 to 2023, filed a lawsuit against the company’s UK subsidiary alleging bribery and unfair dismissal. Writes about this Bloomberg.
The document states that she became aware that a colleague had received bribes from a client “under the guise of providing consulting services.” He has since left the firm.
Srivastava informed top management, and a month later she lost her job.
She said she experienced a “chaotic” environment at the company and “pressure to close deals.”
The platform was seeking to fill a revenue “gap” after it emerged that about a quarter of the division’s service revenue previously came from an Iran-linked client, it said.
According to court documents, Binance executives already knew about the bribery incident. The company had a culture of regularly weeding out unscrupulous employees.
Claimants challenging unfair dismissal in the UK can receive up to 105,700 GBP (~$134,150), compensation for informants — unlimited, according to the agency.
In November, lawyers representing the interests of Binance and its ex-CEO Changpeng Zhao demanded that the updated lawsuit be dismissed SEC.
In August, a complaint was filed in federal court in Seattle against the platform and its founder. According to the statement, three crypto investors failed to recover stolen assets because the exchange failed to prevent money laundering.
