Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced the opening of its hub in Georgia, the main task of which will be to attract talent in the field of blockchain technologies.

The exchange also plans to develop educational and public initiatives in the field of blockchain and Web3, as well as further development of the Georgian crypto industry. Currently, the Binance team in Georgia has 25 people.

“With the launch of the regional center, we expect dozens more jobs to be added by the end of 2023. In addition to ramping up recruitment, Binance will step up efforts to strengthen blockchain education and accelerate crypto adoption in the region,” the company said.

Vladimir Smerkis, head of regional development at Binance, noted that he considers Georgia to be one of the most innovative countries in the region. He added that for Binance, “this is an important point on the map.”

“The opening of the hub in Georgia is a logical continuation of the dialogue that we started with the government last year. Thanks to the hub, we will put even more emphasis on the regional presence of Binance,” added Giorgi Chagelishvili, general manager of Binance in Georgia.

In November 2022, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao visited Georgia for the first time. During this visit, he met with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, as well as with the local crypto community.

In February, Binance signed a memorandum of understanding with the Georgian Innovation and Technology Development Agency (GITA) to organize educational events on the topic of blockchain and crypto assets.
