Biorevitalization: everything you need to know

A stimulating and energizing caress that makes the complexion soft, smooth and radiant and cancels as if by magic atonicity and dull appearance. These are the objectives of biorevitalization, an aesthetic medicine treatment designed to counteract the aging processes. «Over time the skin regeneration mechanisms slow down: the ability to produce hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin decreases and consequently the loss of binding water to the tissues, so the skin is less hydrated. These elements make up the deep lining of the skin that gives tone and firmness, ”he explains Fiorella Donati specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. An invisible but inexorable process that begins as early as the age of 30, aggravated by environmental factors such as solar radiation and air pollution, which makes the skin increasingly thin, dry and subject to the formation of lines and wrinkles. “This method acts precisely on this cellular replacement mechanism, making it more efficient and supplying the skin with useful substances to give a boost capable of reactivating the fibroblasts to produce the elements that give tone and compactness”.

How does it work

The method consists in carrying out infiltrations of active ingredient cocktails. “Pure hyaluronic acid (powerful moisturizing agent), glycerol (valuable anti-dryness antidote), vitamins (A, B3, B5 B6, B12, C and E antioxidants) and, in some cases, botulinum (muscle relaxant) they are distributed in the subcutaneous by means of a very thin cannula », explains the expert. The implant location must be precise and there are different methods that involve the use of fine needles that distribute the cocktail of functional elements over the entire surface to be treated. Even more appreciable and effective results are obtained by creating only two access routes. “With this approach, which I prefer, a very thin cannula is used (so the microcirculation and nerve structures are not damaged) which releases the bio-revitalizing elements under the dermis, creating a sort of well-adherent lining that creates a thickness homogeneous”. In this way, a network is created that slows down skin aging and consequently the formation of wrinkles and furrows. The affected areas range from the eye contour to the neck and décolleté, with the exception of the forehead where the texture of the subcutaneous tissue is very thin and different treatments are recommended.

The seat

Before starting, the doctor prepares the skin. “There is an essential step that is often overlooked: the skin must be disinfected. Then an anesthetic cream is applied and we proceed », Donati underlines. The procedure takes about twenty minutes and at the end it is sufficient to pat the area with cold compresses to de-inflammation and decongest if redness and swelling appear. In any case, the discomforts, if any, disappear within an hour.

Who can do it

There are no specific limitations though it is advisable to avoid taking anticoagulant drugs (for example aspirin) a few days before the session. Also suitable for sensitive skin, it has some contraindications. «It is not recommended in case of acne, because it runs the risk of spreading it further. Botox is excluded when there are neurological or dystrophic diseases of the muscles », warns Fiorella Donati. “As for all interventions, in the following days we continue with the usual cosmetic treatments, taking care to use them on perfectly clean skin, while saunas, swimming pools and exposure to UV rays must be avoided”.

Duration and costs

At the end of the meeting, the skin appears visibly luminous, smooth and with less evident skin marks and furrows. But it is not a biolifting as it is often referred to. “The goal is twofold: on the outside it improves the skin texture and increases softness, in depth it acts in a targeted way, slowing down the aging processes. These activities are continuous and after 15 days when the real magic occurs: the skin is even more compact, smooth and radiant thanks to the deeply implanted elixir of youth ”, explains the expert. The preparation and course of the procedure is chosen by the doctor based on age and individual characteristics, which draws up an individual scheme. «The results do not have a precise duration, but it is recommended for 30/40 year-olds to repeat the treatment twice a year, while in the case of mature skin the meetings must be repeated every three months. It is also suitable for the youngest because it improves skin conditions and gives an even fresher and smoother appearance ». Depending on the areas to be treated, the costs range between 200 and 800 euros per session.
