The “black rain” phenomenon is expected to be recorded in four more states between Friday (13) and Sunday (15). The information is from Weather OK .
The state of Rio Grande do Sul was hit by ‘black rain’ last Tuesday (10).
According to meteorologist Maria Clara Sassaki, in the coming days, the rain that falls with a change in color, and is a result of the fires in the country, should be seen in Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul.
The specialist explains that the concentration of pollutants in Rio Grande do Sul will soon advance to the Southeast region.
Critical regions
The “black rain” phenomenon is due to smoke particles and pollutants being carried into the atmosphere and, when mixing with raindrops, generating a dark color.
The meteorologist explains that the regions with the highest concentration of pollutants are the interior areas of São Paulo, northern Paraná and the entire Central-West.
Regarding the rainfall and the volume that will be found in these regions, the eastern region of Paraná and the Ribeira Valley (SP) stand out. However, she reports that this does not mean that it will be in these areas that the volume of “black rain” will be greater.
“A greater volume of rain does not necessarily mean a greater concentration of pollutants (black rain). This is because the densest plume is in inland areas,” concludes Sassaki.
