Bolsonaro and Lula wave in search of bridges with centrist parties

The two main names in this year’s electoral race for the Presidency of the Republic started movements to divide parties that, until now, tried to stay out of the polarization established between President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and former President Lula (PT).

Jair Bolsonaro’s team managed to attract a PSD leader in Minas Gerais to the post of government leader in the Senate. Alexandre da Silveira, who will take a seat in the Senate in the vacancy of Antônio Anastasia, appointed minister of the Federal Audit Court (TCU), will be the defender of Bolsonaro’s agenda in the House. He is very close to the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG).

By elevating him to the post, the Planalto tries not only to establish bridges with Pacheco, but also to stop the movement of approximation between the PSD and the PT. Former President Lula has worked hard to attract the party of former mayor Gilberto Kassab.

The PT, in turn, does not watch the inert movement. He approaches a wing of the Network that is attached to his candidacy, in an attempt to prevent the acronym from formally supporting the campaign of Ciro Gomes (PDT).

All these movements and the backstage of the main pre-candidates for the Planalto were the subject of this Friday’s episode of the podcast Hora de Brasília.

Daniela Lima and Renata Agostini also spoke about the launch this Friday of the new slogan by Ciro Gomes and the appointment of Rodrigo Maia to coordinate João Doria’s government program (PSDB).

Maia anticipated the podcast that he will invite Marcelo Garcia, who was responsible for the social assistance policy in the Fernando Henrique Cardoso government, to collaborate with the program.

Presented by Daniela and Renata, the Brasilia time is broadcast live and with video on the website of CNN Brasil and on the station’s YouTube channel, on Fridays, from 12:30 pm. Afterwards, the episodes can be accessed on demand on the main podcast platforms: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Podcasts and Deezer. After the year-end break, the Brasilia time returns with a new episode on January 7th.
