EU member states will be able to agree on a new package of sanctions against Russia, which will include restrictions on Russian oil imports during the talks, European Union Foreign Minister Josep Borrell said today.
“We have to decide unanimously. Discussions took place yesterday afternoon and will take place this morning and throughout the afternoon,” Borel told France Info.
“I believe that this afternoon we will be able to present an agreement to the leaders of the Member States,” he added.
Asked if EU plans to ban Russian oil imports could fail due to resistance from Hungary and other Eastern European countries, Borrell replied: “No, I do not believe (…) there will be an agreement in the end.” .
