Diplomat Todd Chapman, former US ambassador to Brazil, commented on the meeting between US President Joe Biden and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), this Thursday (9), at the Summit of the Americas. “It seems that it was a very constructive meeting, the two heads of state said what was necessary to say, addressed the issues, spoke clearly and left saying that they are in agreement on several points, I always believed that the two could reach an appointment” , he said.
In an interview with CNN after the bilateral meeting, Bolsonaro stated that he and Biden “share the same perception”. The president said he was “amazed” during the meeting he had with the president of the United States at the Summit of the Americas.
“The two gained a lot from this meeting, Biden gained the clarity that he can work well with Bolsonaro…And Bolsonaro had the chance to speak very clearly about interests where there is a lot of coincidence. The two understood each other and will move forward”, said the former ambassador.
“I think this is the way to move forward together, constructively, with concrete proposals and investing in the private sector,” added Todd Chapman.
