Brian Trunzo: “The future of Web3 and NFT is not in pictures from the Internet”

According to metaverse specialist Brian Trunzo, the future of Web3 and NFT lies in gamification, with the help of which different projects will be able to attract more people and introduce them to their brand.

Metaverse Lead at Polygon Studios Brian Trunzo said in a recent interview at Chainlink SmartCon 2022 that the crypto industry will be able to achieve mass adoption of Web3 and NFT when people stop associating collectible tokens with images from the Internet.

According to Trunzo, most people are poorly informed about these technologies, and many of them still believe that ordinary jpeg files are a new class of investment assets. And some even think that anyone can save them by clicking the right mouse button.

He recalled the recent initiative of the international coffee chain Starbucks, which launched a customer reward system using NFT Starbucks Rewards. Through this program, users will be able to earn non-fungible Starbucks tokens by completing tasks in interactive games.

According to Trunzo, Web2 was more about engagement through various loyalty programs, while Web3 will be about gamification. Clients in a playful way will explore the brand and become part of it. In the case of Starbucks, it will not be a gaming 3D metaverse like Decentraland or The Sandbox, but an NFT-based program designed to engage users both digitally and physically.

Recall that, as previously reported by blockchain security specialists Immunefi, the Web3 market lost more than $428.7 million in the third quarter of this year. This is 62.9% less than in the same period of 2021.
