‘Bridgerton’ will have a spin off with Queen Charlotte as protagonist

The universe of Bridgerton it expands. After the renewal of the hit series was announced for three more seasons, Netflix and Shondaland were wasting no time and announced that they will add a second series to the franchise.

Written by Shonda Rhimes, the prequel will have a miniseries format and will be based on the life, origin and romances of Queen Charlotte, played by Golda Rosheuvel in Bridgerton, before reaching the throne.

Many have not known the story of Queen Charlotte before ‘Bridgerton’ brought her into the world and I am excited for this new series that will develop her story and expand the world of ‘Bridgerton’. In addition to the rise and love life of young Queen Charlotte, the series that has yet to be officially named will include stories of young women Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury. Rhimes will executive produce the project alongside Betsy Beers and Tom Verica.

For its part, Bridgerton will have a new lead production company, Jess Brownell, for season 3 and 4, replacing Chris Van Dusen, who is currently in charge of the recordings and production of the second installment.
