Britain: Christmas table threatened after fuel – 15,000 skinheads wanted

Strong concern prevails in Britain from lack of thousands of skinners, with professionals in the field expressing fears of shortages of traditional products for Christmas and of mass slaughter of animals, as it cannot be processed meat.

More specifically, the British Association of Meat Processing Companies (BMPA) explains in the newspaper The Times that circulates today, Friday (1/10) that there is a shortage of 15,000 skinners in the sector, which has forced the sector to focus on the supply of supermarkets only with basic pieces of meat.

“We should have produced Christmas food as early as June or July, but that has not happened so far,” the BMPA said. “There will be shortages of festive food, such as sausages wrapped in bacon”, a favorite food of the British for the holidays, as reported by APE-MPE.

Britain: Supermarkets, fast food restaurants and pubs face serious delivery problems

The British economy is currently suffering from a labor shortage due to the pandemic and Brexit. In particular, the lack of truck drivers has so far caused problems in fuel deliveries, resulting in more than a week shortages at service stations.

But supermarket shelves, fast food chains and even pubs are also plagued by delivery problems, which could add to the shortage of manpower in the manufacturing sector.

Lack of skinners can mean killing 150,000 pigs in the next 10 days, warned the National Farmers Union. These animals “will not enter the food chain” and rather “incinerated” or “thrown in the trash”“There is not enough manpower to process the meat,” Rob Muttimer, president of the British National Pig Association, told the BBC. The association today called on the country’s retailers to continue buying local pork rather than the cheapest EU products.

Aiming to alleviate the situation, the British government is considering easing visa restrictions for a maximum of 1,000 foreign scavengers, according to a Times article today.
