British sanctions on Russian troops for use of chemical weapons in Ukraine

Britain today imposed sanctions on Russian troops it says have used chemical weapons on the battlefield in Ukraine, accusing Moscow of “cruel and inhumane tactics”. Among the troops sanctioned are the Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops of the Russian Federation and their chief Igor Kirillov, the government statement said. “The UK will not stand idly by while (Russian President Vladimir) Putin and his mafia state flout international law, including the Chemical Weapons Convention,” Foreign Secretary David Lammy said in a statement.
