Bullard (Fed): Inflation too high, to move quickly to a neutral stance

Inflation in the US is “too high”, the president of St. Petersburg stressed today. Louis Federal Reserve Bank, James Bullard reiterating his analysis for successive interest rate hikes to 3.5% by the end of the year in order to curb inflation expectations and slow down the price rally.

“What needs to be done now is to get to a neutral quickly [επίπεδο τη νομισματική πολιτική] “and then continue from there,” Bullard said in a speech at an External Relations Council event, according to Reuters.

The official also noted that he does not expect the central bank to need to raise its interest rates by more than 50 basis points in any of its next meetings.
