By dealing with heavy loads, increase in diesel impacts agriculture even more

After 60 days without adjustment, the price of a liter of diesel rose 8.8% for distributors and is now sold at R$ 4.91 per liter.

According to Petrobras, the global balance of diesel is impacted by a reduction in supply compared to demand. Inventories are low and below the lows of the last five years in the main supplying regions, with the increase directly impacting grain transport.

THE CNN Specialist in agribusiness, Marcos Fava Neves, commented on the readjustment and the effects on the economy.

“Last year, [o preço do diesel] rose more than 50% and this year it is already more than 30%. We have to see that agriculture is a heavy activity. Loads are not high value loads such as home appliance. You take a lot of weight, a lot of diesel consumption for a value that is not that great. So the impact is even greater,” he explained.
