Caixa says it investigates allegations of sexual harassment at the institution

Caixa Econômica Federal confirmed this Wednesday (29) that it received, through its whistleblowing channel, reports of sexual harassment at the institution, but without mentioning the name of the bank’s former president, Pedro Guimarães.

According to the note released by the bank, the investigation is being carried out in secrecy, within the scope of the Corregedoria, “which is why it was not known to the other areas of the bank”.

The note also says that, as part of the ongoing internal investigation, opened in May 2022, contacts were made with the complainant, who remains anonymous.

“Internal steps were also carried out, which resulted in preliminary material, which is under evaluation. Therefore, the Corregedoria admitted the complaint and informed the complainant, making itself available to collect their testimony, maintaining their anonymity”, says the note.

The bank highlighted that its whistleblowing channel is managed by a body external to the institution, “which guarantees transparency, security and protection for whistleblowers”.

This Wednesday (29), Pedro Guimarães made official his resignation from the position of president of the institution. The request was made by letter and took place after allegations of sexual harassment that Guimarães had committed with bank employees.
