California legislators proposed to allow paying for public services with cryptocurrencies

A bill has been submitted to the Senate of the U.S. state of California proposing to allow government agencies in the state to accept cryptocurrencies to pay for their services.

The bill was introduced by Democratic Senator Sidney Kamlager-Dove. The document highlights the increased demand for payments in cryptocurrencies by US citizens.

According to the senator, California institutions may well accept cryptocurrencies to pay government fees. In fact, the bill only supplements the existing state law in terms of the list of accepted currencies for paying for public services.

The use of cryptocurrencies to pay for various government services is increasingly becoming a subject of discussion. Recently, Colorado Governor Jared Polis announced that local residents will be able to pay taxes in BTC and ETH from the middle of this year. The authorities will exchange them for US dollars.
