Canada’s government today urged its citizens to leave Lebanon as quickly as possible “while they still can,” where fears of an escalation of violence on its southern border between Hezbollah and Israel are growing. Ottawa reiterated its call for Canadians to leave Lebanon while they still can, stressing that the security situation in that country is becoming increasingly volatile and unpredictable due to the conflict between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah. “It’s time to leave while there are still trade options,” Canadian foreign minister Melanie Jolie said in a statement. “My message to Canadians has been clear since the beginning of the Middle East crisis: this is not the time to travel to Lebanon. And for Canadians now in Lebanon, it’s time to get out while commercial flights are still flying.” Source: RES
