The Federal Police launched an operation this Thursday morning (24) against candidates who allegedly practiced vote buying during this year’s election.
The investigations began after complaints that candidates, whose identities were not revealed by agents, were buying votes by donating water tanks from Monte Azul city hall (662 km from Belo Horizonte), for voters.
During the operation, agents carried out four search and seizure warrants at the suspects’ homes and seized cell phones and documents that will be examined and should help continue the investigations.
The Federal Police highlighted that “this Thursday’s action (24) aims to collect evidence of the crime of illegally capturing suffrage and identify other possible parties involved in the criminal practice.”
The investigations continue.
