Hieratic, solemn, rigorous one. Over the top and almost provocative the other. The two prima donnas who lit up the red carpet of the fourth evening of the 75th edition of Cannes Film Festival they couldn’t be more different. If they didn’t have such a personal, precise, convinced and unmistakable sense of style in common. And, in this case, a brand: Chanelwhich dresses them both.
The first is Tilda Swintonicon of the most sophisticated and snobbish minimalism, muse of the most intransigent and cultured stylists, here to accompany the film Three Thousand Years Of Longing. He did not give in to a more affected and affected style than usual. No concession to unnecessary frills and excess decorations. Tilda is to the nth degree the pure image of herself, once again.
The second is Marion Cotillardwhich arrives at the Croisette only in films Frère et Sœur and who on the red carpet dares the inosable, contravening any festival dress code: couture shorts for her and legs on display, veiled by tights in shades. A look that leaves you amazed. And that she, however, manages to have fun without scandalizing (also because, by now, we could perhaps be scandalized by her dress ?!).
Among the many more or less significant appearances on the red carpet, however, that of Charlotte Casiraghi, who from the Principality comes to Cannes to remind everyone that you can be tremendously chic even with a simple dress as simple as hers. Yes, of course it can. But only if you’re Charlotte.
