Carla, Rai Uno celebrates the greatest dancer in Italy

One hundred minutes to retrace the personal and professional story of what was one of the undisputed icons of world dance. This Sunday, December 5th, it will air in prime time on Rai Uno Carla, film dedicated to Carla Fracci.

The story of the étoile who passed away on May 27th it will be revived thanks to the efforts of Rai Fiction and Anele who co-produced the film. Carla was made with direct advice from the dancer herself (who also joined the cast during filming), but also of her husband Beppe Menegatti and their historical collaborator Luisa Graziadei. The story is set between Rome, Orvieto and Milan. And precisely in the city that gave birth to the world famous dancer, an unprecedented event took place: the Teatro alla Scala has decided for the first time to open its doors to a fictional production.

Fracci’s autobiography, Step by step – My story (published in 2013), was the basis on which the director Emanuele Imbucci then reconstructed the story of the étoile, interpreted by Alessandra Mastronardi. The story, in fact, starts from a fact that really happened to the dancer in the seventies. This is the moment when her friend Rudolf Nureyev (Léo Dussollier) suggests that she return to dance after only one year from the birth of her son Francesco. All bringing back to the Teatro alla Scala The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky. Five days to learn the choreography and present it in front of the public.

This anecdote is therefore the Red string of the narration of Carla which wants to underline the professional greatness of the dancer, but also her own personal affair so courageous (as is well known, Carla Fracci made the decision to become a mother at the very peak of her career). The cast also includes Stefano Rossi Giordani (in the role of Beppe Menegatti), Elena Cotta, Maria Amelia Monti, Pietro Ragusa, Euridice Axen, Paola Calliari, Gabriele Rossi, Lorenzo Lavia, Valentina Romani, Maurizio Donadoni, Paola Lavini, Alan Cappelli Goetz , Claudia Coli and Elisa Proietti.
