CNN expert in economics and agribusiness Carmen Perez spoke this Sunday (22) about the possibility of rural producers being paid for environmental services – that is, for the preservation of reserve areas on their lands.
“This month, six ranchers from Mato Grosso, members of the Liga do Araguaia association, signed a partnership with the Amazon Environmental Research Institute for the provision of environmental services”, highlighted Perez.
“That is, they preserve beyond the legal obligation and will receive for this. From now on, in addition to the beef and soy crop, they also get paid for the preservation crop.”
THE CNN Specialist he also highlighted the preservation efforts within Brazilian farms.
“A practical example is the fences in all our reserve areas to prevent domestic animals from entering the wild, he said.
“In addition, this protection space is constantly monitored to prevent invasion or even fire outbreaks.”
