Catalonia will not go to the next phase of its de-escalation plan in the measures against the coronavirus

The Generalitat has decided to stop the de-escalation in its measures to stop coronavirus infections. In this way, Catalonia will continue next Monday in section 1 of the plan started on November 23, which consists of four phases to be reviewed every 15 days.

As reported by TV3, the Catalan Executive has made this decision, which will be made public at a press conference at 1:00 pm, due to the worsening of the pandemic data. The risk of Covid outbreak (217 points) and transmission speed (0.92) have increased today for the third consecutive day. One of the conditions that the Government had set for the tranche change is that this second index should remain below 0.90.

Thus, Catalonia will maintain, in principle, another two weeks the same restrictions in force since November 23 for mobility and economic, sporting or cultural activities. Another consequence of this decision is that the ski resorts The Catalans will not start the season on December 9, as they announced yesterday that they would do in anticipation of entering the second phase.
