CDC repeals ‘Avoid travel’ recommendation for 89 countries, including Greece

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced today that it has removed nearly 90 international destinations, including Greece, from the list of countries that advised Americans not to travel due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last week, the CDC said it would review its recommendations and maintain “Level 4” (ie Avoid Travel) recommendation “only for special circumstances”, such as if cases in a country increase rapidly. if a variation of anxiety occurs or if the health system collapses in an area.

Now, no country is in “Level 4”. For countries and regions that have fallen to “Level 3” it remains a recommendation to unvaccinated Americans to avoid travel. These include all European countries, the United Kingdom, Israel, Turkey, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Russia. The US, Mexico and Canada remain in “Level 3”.

According to Forbes magazine, until last week, 89 countries remained in “Level 4” and among them was almost the entire European continent.
