The Chamber of Deputies approved this Tuesday (24), the Provisional Measure (MP) that established the value of the minimum wage for 2022, of R$ 1,212 per month.
The new value considers the monetary correction by the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) from January to November 2021 and the inflation projection for December 2021, estimated by the technical area of the Ministry of Economy.
In total, the readjustment is 10.18% in relation to the previous minimum wage, which was R$ 1.1 thousand.
With the argument of restoring the purchasing power of the minimum wage, the opposition presented amendments to the MP so that the correction would be calculated by the variation of the INPC plus the variation of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) two previous years, in addition to establishing this policy of appreciation of the minimum wage both for 2022 and for the following years.
Another amendment intended to increase the minimum wage by another BRL 39.00 as of June 1 this year, but was also rejected. Both were rejected.
