Charles may have called for family unity in speech, says professor

Charles III made his first speech as king to the nation this Friday (9). In a recorded address, he stated that Queen Elizabeth II saw the best in people and made sacrifices out of duty. She also promised to serve with “loyalty, respect and love”, praised Camilla and William and expressed “love to Harry and Meghan”.

In an interview with CNN ESPM International Relations professor Leonardo Trevisan evaluated that the monarch may have made a call for family unity.

“It also caught the attention of him perhaps making a call for family unity with the mention of a possibility of re-including Prince Harry in the family sphere”, pointed out Trevisan.

The professor said Charles conveyed a tone of reassurance, not mourning, as he is trying to build the imprint of his own reign.

“It is a new reality that is being placed. The message is exactly that there is a very clear possibility of forming new brands, including for the Commonwealth and the 14 united kingdoms”, he analyzed.
