A child died this Tuesday morning (24th), in Campinas, after a tree fell in Parque do Taquaral.
The Civil Defense of Campinas confirmed the death. According to the Fire Department, the call was around 9 am.
The child’s mother was not hit by the tree, but she felt sick and was treated at the Anchieta Hospital emergency room.
In a note, the Civil Defense of the municipality regretted the accident, and said that the City Hall determined the closure of all parks indefinitely due to the rains.
“Mayor Dário Saadi determined the immediate closure, for an indefinite period, of all parks and public sports squares in Campinas due to the heavy rains that hit the city and the risk of falling trees. Saadi deeply regrets the accident that took place this Tuesday morning, at Lagoa do Taquaral, is in solidarity with the victims’ families and makes the Municipal Administration available to provide all the necessary assistance”.
