Research by the São Paulo Commercial Association (ACSP), released exclusively for the CNN Brasil Business this Wednesday (5), points out that 41.7% of Brazilians who plan to shop for the date – 45.6% of those interviewed – intend to spend more on this year’s Children’s Day gift than in relation to last year. Another 34.2% expect to spend less than in 2021.
For 76.1%, the average ticket should be between R$50 and R$200.
The most cited form of payment was cash. What, according to the ACSP economist, Ulisses Ruiz de Gamboa, draws attention compared to previous years, “but it can be explained by the higher cost of credit”.
The survey also points out that the most sought after items continue to be the traditional ones for the date: clothes, shoes (33%) and toys (22%). Dolls (19.2%), strollers (14.4%), soccer balls (13.1%), cell phones (11.5%), books (11.6%) and bicycle (11.3%).
For the economist, consumer buying behavior has returned to what it was before the pandemic. “Sales prospects for 2022 are more favorable than last year due to the advance in occupation, the injection of resources made by the Federal Government and the increase in consumer confidence”, he explains.
The participation of services, represented by tickets to cinema, theater, zoo, water park, etc. (6.1%) and trips (5.8%) continue to decrease in importance in purchase intentions.
The preference of respondents to purchase products in small stores also represents the majority (44.8%) of the responses.
For the survey, ACSP reports that 1,700 people were interviewed in all regions of the country.
