Chr. Staikouras: Many, sufficient and effective measures for the consequences of the pandemic

The government’s measures to deal with the effects of the pandemic were many, sufficient, and effective, for households and businesses, especially the middle class and the lower income strata, he stressed in his address to the debate on the 2022 Budget in Parliament, the Minister of Finance, Christos Staikouras.

Commenting on the position of the MP of the Movement for Change, Harry Kastanidis, that 15 EU countries covered the losses due to a pandemic in 2021, while Greece covered 69% of them, Mr. Staikouras pointed out that Greece has the best performance among the countries of the Mediterranean south, ahead of Spain, France, Portugal, Malta and Italy.

He even noted that we emphasized elsewhere, that is, we gave resources to employment and maintaining jobs, while he submitted a table that the measures we took took place and we had the largest reduction in unemployment in Europe.

For his part, Mr. Kastanidis also noted that the issue of unemployment should be discussed again based on the data of November and December 2021.-
