Citroen showed the concept of the electric car of the future: with a strange windshield and a new logo

Citroen, which just a few days ago officially announced the change of its logo to the original, redesigned in a modern way, yesterday, September 29, showed its new concept car called Oli. It, of course, runs on electric power plants and boasts a rather interesting body design that greatly distinguishes the vehicle from competitors. For example, the car received a completely flat and strictly vertical windshield, just like the military version of the Hummer, which is almost impossible to meet in the automotive market.

And although this particular show car will most likely never go into mass production, for Citroen the Oli electric car is an important step in the development of the brand – the company said that it will rely on compact and affordable (as far as possible) electric cars instead of make huge SUVs, crossovers and sedans with a focus on premium. Actually, the emphasis on lightness, compactness and affordability in Oli is visible to the naked eye – in the equipped format, this car weighs only 1000 kg, which is very good for an electric car with heavy batteries.

One of the most important features of the Oli is accessibility, which is also achieved through interchangeable elements – the same bumper front and rear is the same component. The manufacturer did the same with road arches and, probably, seats in the cabin. As a result, the company can reduce the production of unique elements and make the electric car cheaper, and this kind of windshield is also noticeably cheaper to manufacture than conventional options, even if it negatively affects aerodynamics. Also, to reduce weight, the manufacturer made some body elements from special honeycomb cardboard (yes, that’s right – from cardboard) – it weighs half as much as steel, while maintaining an impressive weight.

For the same purpose, the wheels are made of aluminum, and in the cabin you can see the seats, which are made by 3D printing. And, most importantly, the manufacturer decided not to install a huge multimedia system display on the front panel – there are physical climate switches, a fairly simple-looking steering wheel and a small display that acts as a dashboard. Unfortunately, the manufacturer did not say anything about the characteristics of the show car, which is quite expected, but the company said that the maximum speed of the electric car will be 110 km / h, and the range reaches 400 km.
